The Land of Promise

New Teaching and Learning Resource

The Ulster-Scots Agency has developed a new teaching and learning resource called The Land of Promise about emigration of Ulster Scots people to Maine in America in 1718.

Ulster-Scots travelled to New England and played an important part in establishing settlements there. They and their descendants were influential in developing what would become the United States.

There is a large Ulster-Scots diaspora in the USA and there is considerable interest in links with Ulster.

The Land of Promise has been designed for use in schools in Ulster and the USA and it is intended to link schools working on the subject in collaborative learning activities.
