Success for The Johnston School of Highland...

24 May 2012

The Ulster & City of Belfast Dance Championships is a highly prestigious Highland Dancing event. It took place this year at Stranmillis College on Saturday 19th May and was host to competitors from around the U.K. The Moneyreagh group came away from the Ulster Championships carrying a total of 10 Trophies between them (more than any other dancing school).

Not only did the pupils achieve incredible results, but teacher Michelle Johnston regained the title of “Adult Ulster Highland Dancing Champion” for the 6th consecutive year.

To add to the team’s recent competitive success, the girls have been accredited by the S.D.T.A. (Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance). 12 dancers from the Moneyreagh School passed examinations with the board in March, with most dancers gaining a Highly Commended grade in their “Gold Medal” Examination.

Michelle also passed a membership exam with the S.D.T.A (Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance), gaining Distinction.  This is another qualification to add to her Associate Diploma held with the B.A.T.D (British Association of Teachers of Dancing).
