Hosted by the Schomberg Festival Committee, the Schomberg Ulster-Scots Festival will run from Thursday 4th to Thursday 11th July 2013.
Thursday 4th July 2013
Scottish Country Tea Dance with music by Norman Houston (Housty) in Reivers House from 2.00pm to 4.00pm
Monday 8th July 2013
Highland Dance workshop with tutor Michelle Johnston in Reivers House from 11.00am to 1.00pm
At 8.00pm in Reivers House there will be a debate / discussion on events surrounding the 1913 era with speakers Gordon Lucy, John Erskine and Matthew Warwick
Tuesday 9th July 2013
Ulster-Scots Soiree at Hanna’s Close at 8.00pm with Anne Morrison-Smyth, Colin Moffett, Kirknarra School of Dance, Schomberg Fife and Drum and Risin’ Stour
Thursday 11th July 2013
2.30pm to 4.00pm Lower Square, Kilkeel
2.30pm to 3.00pm Dancers from Kirknarra School of Dance will be showcasing Scottish Highland Dance
3.00pm – 4.00pm Performance by Orangefield Flute Band
7.30pm: Pageant leaving Mill Road, Kilkeel
Schomberg Fife and Drum band will lead the pageant, featuring soldiers, fifes, drums, pipers, traditional army battle train, horses, Ulster-Scots Float, living history groups, Lisnamulligan Pipe, Legananny Accordion, Kilkeel Silver, Pride of Ballinran and a massed band of Rising Sons of the Valley and Annalong Single Star Flute Bands.
The pageant will leave from the Mill Road at 7.30pm sharp and will proceed through the town centre stopping off for a wreath laying ceremony at the memorial stone on Knockchree Avenue before proceeding to the District Field, Manse Road, Kilkeel where our Open Air Ulster-Scots concert, bonfire and fireworks display will take place
9.15pm: Open Air Concert, Bonfire and Fireworks Display – District Field, Manse Road, Kilkeel
An open air concert will then take place at 9.15pm featuring Rightly On (Ulster-Scots Folk Group),Kirknarra School of Dance and Schomberg Fife and Drum, followed by a fireworks display at 10.30pm.
10.45: Massed band leave the District Field to return to Reivers House
11.30pm: Lambeg drums accompanied by fifers will leave Reivers House to parade Kilkeel Town Centre
