"Kye" [Kye] Meaning: Cows
26 April 2010
The Ulster-Scots Agency is pleased to announce the award of financial support to 38 Ulster-Scots festivals spread throughout the Province during 2010. The Ulster-Scots festival content will vary from local marching bands, traditional folk music, historical exhibitions, cooking demonstrations, poetry recitals, storytelling, language workshops, Highland and country dance displays and competitions and other family orientated entertainments.
The Agency would like to take this opportunity to wish all festival organisers a successful and enjoyable event. In addition we would like to encourage the Ulster-Scots community and the general public at large to support their local events and to take the opportunity to attend some of the other Ulster-Scots festivals that are taking place across the Province. We would also encourage festival organisers to share best practice as a community development opportunity to further promote the Ulster-Scots culture, language and heritage. Event organisers should contact the Agency for assistance with any promotional planning and to arrange for the supply of Agency marketing material to be distributed at their own events. Groups should maximize potential around marketing their event through local, and where appropriate national media and marketing sources. Festival organisers are also asked to forward full programme details to Gillian@ulsterscotsagency.org.uk as soon as possible for inclusion in the Agency website’s event section. Finally the Agency’s Grants team would like to remind organisers that changes to their programme of events will only be accepted if prior notification has been approved by the Agency. Claims must also be submitted within two months of completion of your event. Best wishes for a fun filled Ulster-Scots festival season and fingers crossed for some good weather! Full details will be available over the coming weeks in the Events section of this website.
