Celebrating Achievement at Parliament Buildings

Around 100 people recently enjoyed an evening at Parliament Buildings, Stormont, as the Ulster-Scots Agency held its annual Celebrating Achievement event.

In the past academic year, five schools enrolled pupils in the Open College Network Course developed by the Agency in Lambeg Drumming. This course deals with Lambeg theory and practical drumming at Entry Level and is geared towards Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 children. All pupils were taken through the course by Lambeg tutor, Willie Hill.

The schools which participated in the Lambeg Course this year were Carrickfergus Grammar School, Integrated College Glengormley, Oakfield Primary School, The Cope Primary School and Richmond Primary School.

The event, which was sponsored by Michelle McIlveen MLA, saw a total of 48 pupils from the schools attend the event and teaching staff from three of the schools were also present along with parents, guardians and proud grandparents.  Pupils who were not able to attend were presented with their certificates at their respective schools by staff from the Agency.

Our congratulations again to all of the students and those involved in making the course a success.
