Ulster-Scots Agency Opens Summer Schools Grant

15 March 2024

The Ulster-Scots Agency has today opened its Ulster-Scots Summer Schools Grant.

The programme is for summer schools delivered from 1 July to 31 August 2024 and aims to support community and voluntary groups who wish to deliver a five-day Ulster-Scots Summer School to children aged 7 to 16 years.

The Ulster-Scots Agency can support the following two options:

  1. Standard Summer School

These provide up to 10 different Ulster-Scots workshops/activities.  There will be maximum eligible funding of two hours for each Ulster-Scots Activity, with a maximum of 20 hours of activities.

  1. Drama Summer School

Drama tutors may receive funding to deliver a week-long programme, concluding in a drama production. In addition, groups may provide a maximum of five Ulster-Scots workshop/activities.

All summer schools must deliver an Ulster-Scots language workshop.

Interested groups can register HERE.

Following a successful registration, an application form and guidelines will be emailed to the group.  Groups interested in applying are encouraged to carefully read the guidelines and contact the Agency to clarify any issues before submitting their application form.

The Agency will also forward a template for the Summer School Plan to all groups who register.  The plan is part of the application and assessment process and should outline the proposed timetable for the Summer School.

Groups can receive up to 90% of eligible costs. All eligible and capped costs are listed in the guidelines.

Applications close at 12 noon on Friday 19 April 2024.

Groups must ensure that they have submitted all the listed supporting documentation. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
